Just typing out this recipe is making my mouth water. I am not a black bean person by any means, if any recipe calls for black beans I typically sub it out for ground beef. I know, not exactly the healthiest, but I was raised in the country with more pigs and cows than people, so can you blame a girl?
However, black bean burgers are the one black bean recipe I will eat (and will definitely eat every day). I strive to be healthy and this recipe gives me the best of both worlds (thick, delicious goodness with less calories and a whole lot of heart health). I decided to make our black bean burger seasoning into a mix for easy cooking, especially when our little babe comes along. This recipe will season up to 12 patties and is so super simple and cheap to make!
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon chile powder
- 3 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- A dash of cayenne
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
Combine all spices in a bowl and pour into an air tight container.
I left our seasoning layered, a little reminiscent of 90's sand art, but make sure you combine all ingredients before making your burgers. Otherwise there might be a whole lot of garlic and cumin and none of the other yummy stuff.
What are your favorite seasoning mixes?
